Art Meets Code

What is the Thematizer?

Thematizer is collaboration software for graphic designers and programmers.

Thematizer User Interface

The Thematizer enables graphic designers to easily and quickly create true custom themes for WordPress, Drupal, and other open-source development platforms with no programming required. It is not a WYSIWYG but rather a set of configurable tools and templates.

Thematizer themes are responsive, meaning that their contents adapt to a variety of mobile devices such as phones and tablets, while preserving a coherent visual look-and-feel. A template-based framework allows easy visual manipulation of CSS code while outputting clean code and preserving editability. The Thematizer represents a commitment to ensure that graphic designers who choose to work on open source authoring platforms have access to the same or better quality of tools as the industry’s leading proprietary software. Our goal is to foster creative collaboration between designers and developers — without the need for an interpreter.

Thematizer Cofounder Alexandria “Lexie” Gaines-Smith interned with Yes Exactly in the summer of 2011 as an undergraduate while pursuing a degree in Computer Science from Amherst College. Listen to her describe why this project is important for coders and non-coders alike.
